Blog: Wasted Frames

I decided to finally do a Round 2 (the previous round 1 was a messy disaster) of shooting with the New Type 55 film. I was a little bummed when I didn’t really get what I was envisioning in my mind. I thought it was going to be just another “wasted frame,” but then I was surprised by the beautiful accidents that can occur with any film and especially polaroids.

Here is a section of the New Type 55 film after I digitized it. The section with the Cyan-ish hue reminded me of the old school Spirit Photography of the late 1800’s; people would shoot, share and collect these types of photographs.

The emulsion started lifting off the film because I accidentally left the water running on warm. I didn’t mind so much since the initial vision in my mind came out different in the first place. The happy accident left me open to experimentation.
